Trimester 3: Sun, Moon, and Earth
NEW! (April 11th, 2012)
Second grade will begin to "dig deeply" into our last unit of study this week. As we begin our Sun, Moon, and Earth unit, students will be introduced to the layers of the Earth.
After learning the layers of the Earth, students will focus on the study of Earth's crust, where we find several different types of rocks. Using meltable crystals and Play-doh we will create models of the three types of rocks. These models will help us to understand the rock cycle. We will be introduced to some important geological concepts such as weathering and erosion.
