          Trimester 2: Land and Water

          NEW! (January 10th, 2012)
What goes up, must come down!  Fourth grade will soon learn about the stages of the water cycle!  In order to truly understand the cycle, students will observe the water cycle in action in their stream tables.  They will also pretend to be a water drop traveling in the water cycle!  Your student will soon be able to tell you all about evaporation, transpiration (evaporation of water from plants), condensation (formation of clouds), precipitation, ground water, and reservoirs!

We will soon study the properties of the Earth materials (sand, clay, humus, and gravel) found in our stream tables, so that we better understand the interactions of these materials with water.  We will also create our first stream in the stream table to explore how run-off water can cause weathering and erosion.  Meeting our superheros "Breaker" and "Woosh" will be exciting!
